I currently work as a Type Designer at The Northern Block. I initially started work for the Northern Block in 2013 as an apprentice whilst studying for my Graphic Design degree at Teesside University. Since graduating I have created and published 9 different typefaces including 'Jotia', a semi-finalist in the Hiii Typography Awards 2015 and used by Qatar airways. Some of the freelance work I have produced includes branding and marketing materials for a training company and a joinery manufacturing company. In July 2016 I studied the TDi Typeface Design course at Reading University, which is considered to take the best aspects of the Typeface Design Masters course and distill them into an intensive summer course.

I have a passion for all things type related and an eye for good design in all areas whether it be type design, web, print, branding and more.

I love creating type and I love using type! Together these skills reflect off one another enabling me to use them to their best advantage.

Having an awareness of the end product and knowing its intended use in its graphic design situation has a great effect on the design of the typeface, in turn understanding typefaces in detail allows me to create the perfect layout, knowing what is best suited for what job and how to engage with the audience clearly and effectively.

I have acute attention to detail, which is evident in being awarded a First Class Honours in my Graphic Design degree course in 2014 and receiving an ISTD (International Society of Typographic Designers) accreditation for my graphic design work.
